Barista Basics Training Program

ABOUT THE COURSE

Our Barista Basics Training Program is designed to meet the unique learning needs of people with intellectual disabilities and neurodiversity. It’s the perfect way to venture into the world of hospitality and will give a strong foundation for those going on to complete a nationally recognised Barista Certificate or join our café-based Pre-Employment Training Program.

Run face to face in Gawler, South Australia, with 8, two hour sessions over a 4 week period, our mentors walk alongside our training participants to learn;

  • what a Barista job involves
  • hygiene and food safety awareness
  • workplace safety and procedures
  • coffee machine overview, safety and cleaning
  • how to steam milk
  • coffee grinding and preparing espresso
  • how to make popular coffee types
  • workplace communication essentials

Training Programs are capped at 6 participants, with both 1:1 and 1:2 support provision available depending on the person’s individual needs. All training materials and assessments are prepared in an easy read format, with an emphasis on visual and hands on learning throughout the course.

COURSE COSTS & FUNDING INFORMATION

This course is structured with the intention that all 8 sessions are completed to ensure the best outcomes for the individual.

Training participants can choose to pay privately, or may be eligible to use NDIS funding if there are relevant goals and appropriate funding availability in their NDIS plan.

Cost for 1:2 supported training: $70.23 per session (Total course cost $561.84)

Cost for 1:1 supported training: $140.46 per session (Total course cost $1,123.68)
